Mystical experience whilst meditating!

Hi all, i'm new to the forums, meditating and Hinduism as a whole.

In fact the whole reason I registered here was to get some feedback from more experienced meditators as to the meaning of an experience I had whilst meditating last night.

I was chanting the hare Krishna mantra for about 2 hours or so last night and I guess I was in a meditative trance, when the image of Kali "shook" me and pulled me out. It was quite a striking experience that shocked me.

It was just an image of her head, in blue rather than the dark blue/ black colour associated with her, but with her hair like that of the Buddha. Her eyes and sharp teeth pierced me and I felt quite moved and ceased meditating immediately.

Has anyone any idea what this image might have meant?

I'd appreciate any feedback from people with more knowledge of the Hindu deities and their various meanings.
