    Lingam Astakan (Brahmamurari)

I ran into a random Hindu website the other day that featured a MP3 of a very nice song playing on the background.

    It was this:

    Brahmamurari

    Brahmamurari suraarchita Lingam
    nirmaLa bhaasita sobhita Lingam
    janmaja dukha vinaasaka Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    deva muni pravaraarchita Lingam
    kaama dahana karunaakara Lingam
    Raavana darpa vinaasaka Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    sarva sugandha suLepita Lingam
    buddhi vivardana kaarana Lingam
    sidha suraasura vandita Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    kanaka mahamani bhushita Lingam
    phanipativeshtita sobhita Lingam
    dakshasu yagna vinaasana Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    kumkuma chandana Lepita Lingam
    pankajadhaara susobhita Lingam
    sanchita paapa vinaasana Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    deva ganaarchita sevita Lingam
    bhaavairbhaktibhi revacha Lingam
    dinakara koti prabhaakara Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

    ashta daLopariveshtita Lingam
    sarwa samudbhava kaarana Lingam
    ashta daridra vinaasana Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

sura guru sura vara pujita Lingam
    sura vana pushpa sadaarchita Lingam
    paramapadam paramaatmaka Lingam
    tatpranamaami sadaasiva Lingam

Lingaastakamidam punyam yah pathet siva sannidhou
    sivaLoka mavaapnoti sivena sahamodate
I found it one of the most pleasing mantras to listen, I really like its long form and short stotras with a certain repetitive metric to it, like Hanuman Chaleesa.

What can you tell me of this song? I couldn't find much info.

The day I discovered this song I let it playing while I went to sleep. Is it advisable? I ask because while I slept with a good feeling, I wasn't entirely rested (it may have something to do with its rythm and melody).

    Here's the link for the MP3: http://unidadezero.com/pub/audio/ved...;20ASTAKAN.mp3

    Does anyone know the artist?

    Namast,

    Thanks for providing the mp3!

According to the information that pops up on Windows Media Player, it's N.S. Prakash Rao and B. Ramana; I believe this is a picture of the CD here.

It's a lovely song, my parents often play it on cassette here. Thanks for the lyrics and MP3!

Vannakkam: At the Murugan temple in Baltimore, we were given copies of this song. Just before final aarti, the priests and all devotees present sang it. Kind of nice. Its also sung fairly commonly here at our local temple.
