Re: What is Peace of Mind ?

    My thoughts:

Five passions: Lust, Anger, Greed, False-attachments, Vanity are like five internal fire's burning in our minds, and getting release from these internal fire's is Peace of Mind.

Well.. somebody in the thread said, when i go to mandir, i feel peace of mind.
Yes! this is also right, because the thrills of these five passions are somehow less in mandirs as compare to the outer world, and that is because people always go to mandirs with devotional minds.

Similarly when doing any puja or reading any sacred book etc.. the waves of these five passions get lower in mind, and one feels peace of mind.

Being thrown into this world, and being caught up in it. Some things we have control over, others we don't.

Yes, learn how to control our reactions to situations and remember that this is all transitory. It will pass. Lord Krishna says to meditate on Him and devote yourself to Him, and you will come to Him. And when you come to Him, you'll be free of worry and fear. This is something I'm trying very hard to do. No one said it would be easy, but the Lord is ready to carry us.

Worldly activities, From morning when you start your day.
First we prefer coffee to name of GOD as soon as we wake up. We listlen to radio mirchi than to bhajans or slok, do not doing puja with proper DEVOTION. Going to job to make lots n lots n lots money, though we get lots n lots n lots of money but at the same time not giving production of 8 hours or so. Making other people to work for us, Trying to be smart person. Doing all our personal work on work, like paying bills calling telephone companies. Doing shopping online when at work. Driving aggressively with abusing other drivers, to be always in hurry trying to do everything in 24 hours. Looking at woman, getting angry, being egoistic. Making every facility available to our family at the cost of other family. Getting what we do not have right on, Not praying before eating, not praying before sleeping, watching romantic - violent TV serials. Criticizing others rather than minding our own business. Not being helpful but making troubles to others. Not doing any spiritual practice.

Above are all action which keeps us away from GOD - Sat. Again at thought level, we do much more harm to ourselves. Thinking to be the richest person, thinking to be the chief in the company, thinking of other woman.

These are the activities, I think of in simple language.

But how can one meditate on, or devote himself/herself on, -- the thing or person, which he/she has not seen ever ? is it possible ? if yes, than how ?

We look to the bhāgavad gītā , chapter 2, 45th śloka ; Kṛṣṇa-ji says 'be without the 3 guna-s , freed from duality possessed of ( or established in) the SELF (ātmavān)'.

It is in the field of duality that peace of mind is lost, the grief comes and goes.

The only place we can be without the 3 gunu's is when we are Self-facing, possessed of the Self. Then the 3 gunas go on functioning, yet they are now under the direction of Universal Intelligence. It is here that the gunas are ~ balanced~ or functioning properly.

We stay reserved within ātmavān. Yet action still occurs as kṛṣṇa-ji says in the 48th śloka, yogasthaḥ kuru kārmaṇi- established or steadfast in yoga ( union of the ātma, the SELF) perform actions. The is 'code' for letting this Univeral Intellignce then become the driver.

We are out of grief when we let the universe be the driver and we are the vehicle.

Language experts, takes out many different meanings of the same sacred texts, than how surely we can say that -- what we are reading and than understanding is surely correct ?

Or how can we truely know, which true message these sacred texts wants to give to us ?
