    Clarification on readings

I am pursuing changing my name to one of Hindu origin. As a result, I have consulted 4 astrologers on line for suggestions an each came up with a different result.

    1. Is this normal? One suggested a name that begins with "Bhu", another chose on beginning with "Bha", the third chose a full name as did the fourth which are different altogether.

    2. If anyone can suggest a good Vedic Astrologer for consultation, please feel free to note - either here if appropriate or via Private Message.

    Om Namah Sivaya

Namaste and hello again c.smith. ( excuse the bold font - can't seem to turn it off for this post... )

What is normal depends on the level of consciousness of the astrologer.
Let me give you a few pieces of info , so you can poke around a bit when you go to the next astrologor ( or run away from one!)

This Bhu and Bha sound comes from the Nakshatra phonomes associated with specific lunar postions. There are 27 Nakshatra's or lunar mansions the moon travels though. Each have a sound associated with them.

The good news is both sounds are from the same rasi sign of Sagittarius ( the owner is Jupiter of this Sign), yet the sounds are from 2 different Nakshatra's called Purva-shadha and Moola. [ we will infer the not so good news below] This suggests to me that the position of your natal moon was used in your birth chart to determine the sounds suggested. Why are the two sounds different?

Each Nakshatra is divided into 4 sections or 3 degrees 20 min. Each division has a sound. Perhaps one astrologer calculated the moon being in one of these divisions and the other calculated the one right next to it.

What is important is, what quality does one want to bring out in the individual - what is the 'blessing' that is in one's chart. That is, what is the potential, the promise and the possibility that is derived from one's chart?
This is how the skilled Jyotishi should look at the chart. From that then a sound that will make these possibilities resonate within the person is chosen and becomes part of the name. This is the skill of the Jyotishi that knows his work. This is the reason one looks for the name-sound in a chart.
So, here is the not so good news... if one just looks at the chart, see's where the moon (Chandra) resides, then gives you the sound , without finding the blessing, the strength, the best condition, then one will not maximize this approach. You can have a name - if Bhu or Bha is where your moon is at. But lets say your Sun ( Surya ) is exalted, or you have a special Maha-purusha yoga, and the jyotishi passes this up in looking at the chart - or- does not know what do with this info, you have then sold gold for the price of spinach.

Last, you ended your post with "Om Namah Sivaya" this is not a bad place to start with your mantra selection ( from your other post request). My recommendation is to read the posts here: http://www.hindudharmaforums.com/showthread.php?t=6

I don't know if astrologers in the west are still using manual calculations to arrive at your birth chart. It is best these days to get the birth chart done through a computer software which has an accurate database so that calculation mistakes don't occur. One can then consult astrolgers for further interpretations. Though those who are into astrology solely for making money would perhaves re-do your chart, to charge extra money, and perhaves get it wrong.

I found the following site gives a correct basic birth chart. It gives other charts as well and a little bit of the dashas, but not in detail. And it is free...u need to create a log in account though.

scroll down to the section which gives online horoscope (just above tarot crads sections).
