Dear Krishna_ji,
Many rules have been proffered in Jyotish writings (ancient and modern), some for natal horoscopy and others in horary charts, but claims notwithstanding, when given (as quizzes and therefore blinded testing situations) the outcome had been less than satisfactory. Results improved in retrospective and semi- or unblended testing situations. This is seen also for other similar questions that perplex astrologers! Some examples pertaining to the cultural, national origins and religious beliefs of nativities...!
When we face a nativity, most of us see these descriptors such as gender, nationality, cultural leanings etc more evidently; not so much when facing their charts without other visible cues, etc., in a significant degree of specificity.
However, since rather definitive-sounding rules have been described about these -- my personal position has been to park these on the back-burner while keeping my mind open that there must be something of value in such categorizations, in the astrological framework within which we all work!
Love and Light,
Rohiniranjan
