What is the plural of namaste?

    Hello,

Could you answer me what is the plural of namaste? I suppose te is singular as it is in Latin.

    Thanks.

Vannakkam: Since it's not a noun, I doubt it has one, but I'm not sure. Seems to me it's like asking for the plural of 'hello'.

    Namaste,

I wonder something similar, people sometimes end their posts with pranam or pranams, what is the difference and which is correct?

    Thank you.

"Namaste" is used for greeting one person and even many people.

There is nothing like Pranams in संस्कृतम् ...

I think they use Pranams to show their number of salutations according to English way of pluraling .

In Samskrutam, Indians say only Pranam or Namaste. In संस्कृतम् , ते is both singular & plural.

    Namaste,

Namaste=I bow to the divine within you

As EM has pointed out, it is not a noun and does not have a plural. So, without over-analyzing it, it is safe to say that just Namaste is the correct greeting. Some people use the words pranams and namastes and hellos to be cute.

    Pranam.

As one who uses this, this is my own understanding/reason for it. I picked it up after having seen it used elsewhere and seemed pretty acceptable as a way to direct the respectful parting to multiple people in a Forum or Thread with one word instead of several. Though I usually see it written as 'Pranam-s', I've gotten a little lazy and often forget the spacer. I don't use it to offend, and I hope it doesn't.

No one is going to be offended by this, but I have seen plenty of people getting rattled by the Indian invention of the word 'prepone' (inverse of postpone).

    Pranam.

    Namaste,

    OMG!So prepone isn't a real word!
I've been using that word since my school days and now I can't use it.
