4.38 - You should all see this.

    I would like feedback.
    What are you thinking/feeling?

It sounds better than the version you have seen.
    It looks more correct.
    It looks interesting.
    It is fascinating and intriguing.
    It is wrong.
It makes you question the nature of Gita.

    Dear Veena,

In the first chapter of the Gita, it was Arjuna's conflict which was brought under the discipline of contemplation. In the second chapter Samkhya and Yoga as they existed in separate schools of thought were unitively treated; and in the third chapter the whole question of karma (action) was relegated to the necessary aspect of spiritual life, while Arjuna was asked to transcend its evil by focussing his attention on something greater than reason. The present chapter (IV) must be looked upon, naturally, as continuing the same subject of reason or wisdom, to the specification of whose exact nature the Gita arrived at the end of the last chapter. An important aspect of wisdom, as it is to be understood in the Gita, is left over, to be made more explicit in this chapter IV.

What has been emphasised and employed here is a methodology to arrive at the normative notion of the Absolute rather than dispersing the possibilities of the perennial wisdom teaching of the great Gita in terms of mere verbosity.

    T
his might be source or origin in which ‘Nothing is so purifying as knowledge 4.38’ is derived and also implemented here for public awareness by revered scholars.

This is our POV alone; and definitely others have more to say on it. Love

Thank you so much for the explanation.

I felt like what I wanted to know went without being unanswered.
What did you think of how I translated the verse? Have you visited my blog?
Do you understand my perspective on Gita?

Thank you for your reply, information and for the explanation.

    Dear veena,

You are right, this was only a clarification from the standpoint of HDF (as I understand the verse 4:38) and your questions were left unanswered; I do apologise if it has caused any inconvenience to your expectations.

I have taken this standpoint just because the common belief in India that the wisdom teaching is not mere questioning and answering, but, it is an act of sharing knowledge in between the parties involved, that is, more precisely, the the speaker and the listener.

And furthermore, I would be more interested in your philosophy if and only if it is presented in a systematic format with its viṣaya, (the subject matter emphasised in the whole interpretation as part and parcel), the sanbandha (or the implied methodology applied to arrive at the Truth) and the prayojana (or the ultimate benefit of the whole study intended by you). This is only a personal opinion on your reply to my above post. Thank you.
    Love
