With the grand festive season approaching, many households (including mine) are preparing for decorating and displaying the dolls in various steps - called 'Golu' for this occassion!

Each of the 9 steps of the Golu are supposed to contain specific dolls, showing the ascension in intelligence from the lowest to the highest. (Note: Although this has been mentioned for 9 steps, people have the option to decorate in as few as 3 steps or go as many as 5, 7, 9, etc).

Here is what that belongs in each of the 9 steps of the 'Golu':

1st step: Grass, shrubs, trees

2nd step: Snails, shells

3rd step: Ants, lizards

4th step: Crab, bees

5th step: Cattle, 4-legged animals, birds

6th step: Humans

7th step: Maharishis

8th step: Devas, Navagrahas, Panchabhutas, Ashtadik balakas

9th step: Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, with their spouses, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswathi with AdiParasakthi in the center.

Thank you for the wonderful picture of Maa in the wallpaper, Jai Ma! It reminds me of my last year Golu that I managed with a picture of Sri Lakshmi hanging on the wall behind the actual Golu because I didn't have a Lakshmi statue! That negative is rectified this year, as I bought some small statues of Sri Lakshmi from the store! Wish you a wonderful Navaratri season!

PS: I'm curious to know if anyone is planning to do Chandi homam or Sri Lalitha Sahasranama parayanam during the festive season...

Hi all, Im new, Happy Navratri to all, not sure if I will be doing much regarding Garbas etc, havnt been going for a while, but see what happens.

Have a good time for all of those that do.

I still find it hard to understand Ma durga nd her 9 roops, still confusing to me, I guess I will get there in the end, lol.
