Do we suffer from a persecution complex?

Is the rise in Hindutva and Hindu extremism a sign that we 'perceive' being persecuted, or is persecution a justified word?

    Namaste.

The rise in religious extremism throughout the world is not due to persecution. It is more of a precautionary measure.

Not since World War 2 have we witnessed so much civil unrest, oppressive regimes and displaced populations.

India is close to the Middle East and parts of Asia witnessing this turmoil. The recent Islamic bombings at Bodhgaya, the continued tension with Pakistan and the troubles with Tamil insurgents to the south, place the subcontinent of India in a very precarious position.

There has always been 'extremist/militant factions' within Hinduism, and one has to look no further than the Sikhs. Hinduism even has it's own militant class called Kshatriya. This is not a new thing.

We are reaching the pinnacle...the very worst part of Kali Yuga, which will peak either this century, or the next. People will commit more violent atrocities in the name of God, buildings and monuments that have been standing for thousands of years will be destroyed, half the world's population will become displaced to countries on opposite sides of the globe, then there will be wars between those geographical locations, leading to a total depletion in natural resources like water, food and fresh air....and what will be left behind, will be a 'scorched earth policy'.

Many cannot trust their governments to act for the benefit of the people once the chips are down, nor do they believe the army or military force has sufficient numbers to be able to handle an invasion or a war with another country.

Thus, the average citizen is taking up military training and becoming more extremist...learning survival training and the like for this eventuality...encouraging more Hindus to do likewise.

We all are standing along, defending our dharma for many many thousands of years, we are never low in numbers and never weak in power either.

Whoever tries to put there credibility above hinduism, clearly doesn't know about it or just oppressed/scared to admit the truth.

I feel left to themselves hindus are basically peace loving. The criminal activities are generally highly localised.

Even the divisions in hinduism has not resulted in widespread militancies !!!

Even it is OK if the other religions retain the hindu culture or way of life. However the tension starts when the other religions bring in the culture which is foreign to the hindu way of life or when the other religions impinge upon the culture of the land. This may be in terms of demolishing temples, terming hindus as kafirs, seperate tax for other religions, or my religion is supreme and yours is pagan / tribal, etc.

These starts the reaction chains which does not have any end.

That is why in most of the countries you will not find hindu extremists. You may find tamil extremist but not hindu extremist (that is religion does not come in picture).

But clash of culture can give rise to clash of religion - which is basically clash of civilisation.
    Love and best wishes:hug:

Good topic..before that one needs to differentiate between Persecution Complex and standing up for one's self.

Persecution complex or what I prefer to term Delusion of Persecution is a state where someone feels threatened all the time and feels the world is out to get him.

People with this delusion are harshly judgmental and have a massive Holier Than Thou attitude at the same time totally narrow minded and its these types that actually cause more unrest and chaos and end up ruining peace for themselves and for everyone else.

Many have herd mentality that is 'monkey see ..monkey do" and get angry at the drop of a hat cos they do not use Viveka but just act on impulses of the Manas level.

Next is standing up for our rights...there is no harm standing up to defend ourselves when we face a situation that is detrimental for survival..this has nothing to do with religion cos the human species is wired for survival of the fittest.

So when one sees unfairness that is has no legal standing..One should speak up and defend themselves. In fact suffering in silence is grave injustice to one's own self.

The problem is sometime we Hindus have an overdose of Distored Ahmisa which is at times I prefer to call cowardice..the lack of ability to stand up for personal rights should not be called Ahimsa but rather be called Cowardice.

To stay on the right side of the law it is always better to not act on impulse but act after deliberation with learned individuals taking into account of all aspects of life including getting the correct legal advise.

Hindutva is fine as long it does not cause constant internal conflict.

What we want is peace and harmony for everyone regardless of religion.
