Where is the karma located exactly? Thanks.
Where is the karma located exactly? Thanks.
Vannakkam: Where is gravity located? Where is justice located?
Aum Namasivaya
Would it be in the unmanifest then perhaps?
Vannakkam: I'm sorry. My questions meant to say that it doesn't have a location, its an 'abstract' (as in the sense of nouns, not reality) concept.
Aum Namasivaya
If karma is abstract I am bound to think that it's absolute and if it's abstract and absolute it's forever.
EDIT: On second thought maybe not.
Peace!

its stored in the chitta/antahkaran,also called subtle body/sukhma sarira or Linga-sarira. Here its gets stored in different form.one is karma as such which gives you fruits as per your karma, also it is stored as samskara/swabhava,the personality you are, which will change your course of further life.
Man-naathah Shri Jagan-nathah Mat-guru-shri jagad-guruhu.
Mad-atma sarva-bhutatma tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.
My Lord is the Lord of Universe; My teacher is the teacher of the
entire universe; and my Self is the Self of all. My salutations at the lotus-feet
of such a Guru, who has revealed such knowledge to me.
Karma can be considered as causal seeds. An action performed in this life gives rise to seeds that attach to the self - Jivatman. When the necessary conditions for its fruition occur in this life or the next life, the causal seed fructifies and manifests.
The immediate resource of the jeevatama is the Antehkarna which is said to consist of a) manas b) chitta c) ahemkara d) buddhi.
chitta is the store house of all impressions of previous life in three dimensions of the state you were in while performing an act and thus creating an impression--- satavic, tamsic or rajsic.
when one dies his anthehkarna accompanies the atama.
These impressions from the sanskaras one is born with and form the karmashaya. you get paid as per your sanchit karma which appear as prarabhdha and you are born in a particular jati with an allotted longevity and the kind of bhoga you will have.

who is Jivatman?what is it"s position?
Its the false impression of self(which is non other than Brahman on the linga-sarira (astral body). This astral body is chitta which is play of consciousness in three dimensions--mind,intelligent and ego9mana,buddhia,ahamkar).
To attain Moksha, sadhaka has do destroy this chitta/antahkaran by fire of yoga.
then no karma will bear any fruit, one becomes true karma-yogi.

I think this is a worthy question. Yet one must recall that karma means karman. Karman is defined as action/performance. To those that study nyāya school these actions are called out as 5 in number¹.
Yet to ask where karman resides ? It resides in potential. Take a ball and leave it on a flat table. The potential for it to bounce is inherant in the action of if and when it may roll off the table. Karma lies within the field of action.
Yet if one asks where does it lie within the the individual ? It is found in the impressions/vasana-s found within the mind. They manifest when the proper conditions arise as a ~stimulus~. This is an action that causes that impression to manifest, or move from a dormant state to an active state.

1. karman/actions in nyāya school - 5 are called out : ut-kṣepaṇa , ava-kṣepaṇa , ā-kuñcana , prasāraṇa , and gamana
