dīrgha = दीर्घ = lofty , high , tall . This I get. Yet when
I combine it i.e. dīrgha + virāma are you suggesting a 'long stop' ?
If so , I can see it.
Your other comments I get and appreciate; predicated on the notion of daṇḍa and its associations.
