    Dear People,

I wish to formally convert to Kashmiri Shaivism. Could you please assist me with the best way of doing this?

    Thanks

Let me offer some ideas for your consideration. The latest exponent of kaśmir śaivism was svāmī lakṣman-jū. He was quite clear that this kaśmir śaivism was for all walks of life. There are no restrictions ( on who can participate) for one's interest and involvement in this most noble school of unfoldment.

Now the important part of why this would be... Within this kaśmir śaivism the fundamental premise is the all is śiva. That means you , me, the whole world. If that is so , and this is supported by our śaivāgama-s, the why would you (śiva) ask permission to know about yourself ? What needs to be converted?

This knowledge comes with responsibility. It is not the license to act improperly . It is the knowledge that one should no longer consider him/her self lost, or a mga¹( forest animal); one begins to act with dignity.
True conversion is then, re-recognition of one's real nature, one's real being. If you wish then to ~convert~ to kaśmir śaivism, then re-member who you really are, your real being.

But you say, How do I do this ? Thus begins the unfoldment. You need no one's permission to begin. Knowledge and experience is the way.

    iti śivaṁ

    1. mga - a forest animal ; it is a symbol for wondering.

    यतस्त्वं शिवसमोऽसि
    yatastvaṁ śivasamo'si
because you are identical with śiva
