Namaste
Today I feel so sad, but then I turn to this song to Ram loved by many. Perhaps you would like to listen, TERA RAM JI by Nikita? Ram, today Your song brings some light to myself. I will not go to any temple. I will listen to this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-ZD0k6MpW0

Re: Bhakti Sagara - Collection of Bhajans
Today I wanted to hear a Bhajan to Mother India. But then I thought what fitting example is Vande Mataram, even though this is not considered a Bhajan in the absolute sense.
It was written in Bengali and Sanskrit by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1882. Rabindranath Tagore sang Vande Mataram at the Calcutta Congress Session held in Beadon Square in 1896. This is the 1947 version, in a melody probably not heard since long ago to that time when the world saw Freedom at Midnight. Subbulakshmi and Dillip Kumar Roy on 78 RPM. Re: Bhakti Sagara - Collection of Bhajans
Namaste, I should have added a few of the stanzas - here are two (see link above to the 1947 recording of Vande Mataram). You can find a translation by Shree Aurobindo (below is two stanzas of his), but again it is actually very difficult to translate into English due to the deep and profound character of the original.
Thou art wisdom, thou art law, Thou art heart, our soul, our breath Though art love divine, the awe In our hearts that conquers death. Thine the strength that nervs the arm, Thine the beauty, thine the charm. Every image made divine In our temples is but thine. Thou art Durga, Lady and Queen, With her hands that strike and her swords of sheen, Thou art Lakshmi lotus-throned, And the Muse a hundred-toned, Pure and perfect without peer, Mother lend thine ear, Rich with thy hurrying streams, Bright with thy orchard gleems, Dark of hue O candid-fair

Re: Bhakti Sagara - Collection of Bhajans
Namaste! I am in a very good mood today, and then I found this bhajan. Yes, it is sort of "modern", but it is very nice. Shivali Bhammer is a London based singer, and produced a very wonderful set of bhajans. This is one of them, and there is no doubt some of the younger generation (which actually does NOT include me!) will like. Here she sings "Jag Mein Sundar Hain Do Naam".
