I happened to catch the screening of the Indo-Canadian movie Breakaway at the Toronto Film Festival last weekend. It is the Canadian version of 'Bend it Like Beckham' with Soccer replaced by Ice Hockey. The movie is fairly well made with appearances by Akshay Kumar and American rappers Drake and Ludacris; besides the cast of Rob Lowe, Anupam Kher, Russell Peters, Camilla Belle, Sakeena Jaffrey and Vinay Virmani. Normally I don't see many Hindi movies, but this cross-cultural one is worth a watch. Russell's signature humor is sprinkled throughout the movie.
